Tile Materials & Patterns We Install

Porcelain: Dense, durable, and ideal for floors, showers, and busy family spaces.
Ceramic: Great for backsplashes and low-impact walls; wide color and style ranges.
Natural Stone: Marble, travertine, slate, and quartzite bring organic variation and depth. We specify sealers and maintenance plans up front.
Mosaics: Perfect for accents, niches, and shower floors with slope-friendly layouts.
Large-Format Tile (LFT): Fewer grout joints and a modern, seamless look—requires flat substrates and the right mortars (we’ve got both).

Popular layouts:

  • Subway (classic or vertical)

  • Herringbone / chevron

  • Brick offset (⅓ or ½)

  • Stacked (modern)

  • Basketweave and modular patterns

Our Installation Process (What to Expect)

  1. In-Home Consultation & Design
We verify measurements, discuss patterns, trims, grout color, and transitions. We’ll help align selections with the rest of your project (Kitchen or Bathroom).

  2. Substrate Prep
Flat, plumb, and properly fastened surfaces are non-negotiable. We correct out-of-plane walls, level floors as needed, and set slope for shower pans.

  3. Waterproofing & Crack Isolation
Wet zones receive full-coverage membranes; we add crack isolation where substrates demand it (key in older CDA and Post Falls homes).

  4. Setting & Layout
We dry-lay key areas, align focal points, and keep consistent joint widths. Movement joints are added per standards to handle seasonal expansion.

  5. Grouting & Sealing
Sanded/unsanded or high-performance grout as appropriate. Stone gets sealed; grout can be sealed on request for added stain resistance.

  6. Punch List & Care Guide
We walk the space with you, resolve anything needed, and leave a straightforward maintenance guide.

Heated Floors (Optional, Highly Recommended)

Radiant heat brings hotel-level comfort to primary baths and basements, and it helps floors dry faster after winter slush. We install beneath porcelain or stone with thermostat controls and appropriate underlayments to maintain efficiency.

Grout, Trim & Transitions

  • Performance grouts resist stains and cracking in busy households.

  • Profiles & trims (bullnose, metal schluter, or factory edges) finish edges cleanly.

  • Transitions between tile and hardwood, LVP, or carpet are planned early for a trip-free, good-looking threshold.

Waterproofing Done Right

Showers and tub surrounds see constant moisture. We use compatible shower systems (pan + drain + membrane + board) for continuous protection behind the tile. This prevents hidden leaks, swelling, and mold—and keeps grout lines from becoming a maintenance headache.

Common FAQs around the Tile Installation Service

  • Typical backsplashes finish in 1–2 days; full bathrooms with waterproofing and custom niches run 5–10 days depending on scope and selections.

  • Porcelain in 12×24 or larger formats reduces grout lines and wears well. For small baths, mosaics provide traction and shape to shower slopes.

  • Sometimes—if height, substrate condition, and clearances allow. We’ll recommend removal or prep after a site visit.

  • Porcelain doesn’t need sealing; stone and some grouts benefit from annual or bi-annual sealing based on use.

  • We’ll do our best with current lines and close alternatives; bringing a sample or lot information helps.
